About Commodore 64 The Secret of Monkey Island (fan version)
Lucasfilm Games, later known as LucasArts, released ‘The Secret of Monkey Island’ in 1990, a game fondly remembered for its pirate theme and created by renowned figures Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, and Dave Grossman. For those nostalgic about this classic, a fan version is now available for the C64 (developed using the D42 Adventure System from Out of Order Softworks). However, be mindful of its limitations: it’s somewhat cumbersome, lacks character movement for Guybrush, doesn’t allow interaction with images, relies heavily on text menus for gameplay, and it’s uncertain if it can be played from start to finish like the original.
