About Commodore 64 Racing Destruction Set
Racing Destruction Set, a racing video game published in 1985 for the Commodore 64 by Electronic Arts, offers a single or multiplayer experience using joysticks.
Players have the ability to craft diverse race tracks from multiple templates, incorporating ramps and elevation variations. They also have the freedom to modify the terrain, choosing from slippery ice, standard, or challenging sandy tracks.
For specific races, numerous adjustments are available. Players can modify gravity to simulate conditions on various planets or the moon and select their preferred vehicle, with options to customize tires, engines, and other vehicle components. The vehicle choices include a Can-Am sports car, a Jeep, a Lunar Rover, a dirt bike, a baja bug, a pickup, a Sting Ray, a stock car, a street bike, and an Indy/Grand Prix car.
The game features a split-screen for racing, with player 1 controlling the red car on the upper screen and player 2 controlling the yellow car on the lower screen. It offers two modes: racing mode, where players compete to finish a set number of laps the fastest, and destruction mode, where players can deploy oil slicks and landmines to hinder their opponent’s progress.
