About Commodore 64 Gunship

Gunship, a combat flight simulation game developed and published by MicroProse in 1986, puts players in control of an AH-64 Apache helicopter simulation as they embark on missions to assault enemy targets and defend allied forces. The game offers missions across five distinct regions: the U.S. (for training), Southeast Asia (1st Air Cavalry Division), Central America (82nd Airborne Division), the Middle East (101st Airborne Division), and Western Europe (3rd Armored Division).

Upon selecting a region, mission style, and adversaries, players are assigned a primary and secondary mission. Objectives can range from destroying enemy headquarters to supporting friendly troops by eliminating targets in close proximity to allied forces. The latter type of mission is generally easier, as combat takes place nearer to friendly lines.
