About Commodore 64 Battle Chess
Battle Chess is a unique and captivating take on the classic game of chess, featuring 2.5D graphics and engaging fighting animations that showcase the result of one piece capturing another. This innovative video game adaptation adheres to the traditional rules of chess but adds a layer of excitement with pieces that come to life and battle each other when moving onto an occupied square.
There are a total of 35 different battle animations in Battle Chess, as each of the six types of pieces for each color has a unique interaction when capturing another piece, except for the kings, which cannot capture or check each other. For instance, the rook transforms into a rock monster to crush a pawn’s head, while it consumes the queen in another scenario.

Battle Chess C64 keyboard mapping
