About Commodore 64 Rick Dangerous

Rick Dangerous is an action-packed, adventure video game heavily inspired by the Indiana Jones movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Set in 1945, players take on the role of British agent Rick Dangerous, who embarks on a perilous journey through the Amazon jungle to find the lost Goolu tribe. After his plane crashes, Rick must navigate a treacherous environment filled with traps, hostiles, and challenging puzzles.

Gameplay:
Throughout the game, Rick must traverse four unique levels, each with its own distinct theme and challenges. Rick is armed with a pistol, dynamite, and a pogo stick, allowing him to dispose of enemies, solve puzzles, and paralyze foes.

Level 1 begins with Rick escaping a rolling boulder in a cave, a scene iconic to the Indiana Jones franchise. In Level 2, players guide Rick through an Egyptian pyramid filled with hidden traps and ancient puzzles. Level 3 takes Rick to the Nazi stronghold of Schwarzendumpf castle, where he must rescue captured Allied soldiers. Upon learning of a planned missile attack on London, Rick infiltrates a secret missile base in the game’s final level.

Rick’s abilities include jumping, climbing, and carrying limited ammunition and dynamite. His pistol serves as his primary weapon against enemies, while dynamite is used to solve puzzles by destroying blocks. However, players must exercise caution, as explosions can backfire and harm Rick. Many of the game’s traps can also eliminate enemies, providing a strategic advantage.

One of the defining features of Rick Dangerous is the lack of visible warnings for many of the traps. This design choice encourages players to rely on trial and error, learning from their mistakes and gradually mastering each level.
