About Commodore 64 The Train β Escape to Normandy
The Train: Escape to Normandy, a video game developed by Accolade in 1987, draws inspiration from the film ‘The Train’ featuring Burt Lancaster. Players step into the shoes of someone who has overtaken a steam train to flee from Nazi-occupied Germany during the Second World War.
The game tasks players with managing the train’s speed, steam pressure, and other critical functions while it’s moving. Additionally, players engage in combat by shooting down enemy aircraft targeting the train, using anti-aircraft guns installed on the locomotive. During brief stops for supplies at various stations, players must also defend their allies from enemy forces inside the station buildings, ensuring their team can safely resupply.
