About Commodore 64 Gribbly’s Day Out

Gribbly’s Day Out” is a classic game for the Commodore 64, developed by Andrew Braybrook and published by Hewson in 1985. Set on the alien world of Blabgor, the game follows the adventures of Gribbly Grobbly as he endeavors to save the wayward ‘gribblets’ from various dangers and return them to their home. Players take control of Gribbly, guiding him across 16 unique, scrolling landscapes in a quest to find and rescue eight gribblet infants, bringing them back to their cave for safety.

Gribbly possesses the ability to jump and float through the air, using bubbles as a means of defense. When a gribblet is found, Gribbly can carry the vulnerable young back to a place of safety. As the level progresses and only one gribblet remains, the protective energy web collapses, unleashing Seon. This turn of events triggers a desperate race to save the last gribblet from Seon’s onslaught. Successfully rescuing or failing to save the gribblets marks the completion of the level, and Gribbly is then whisked away to the next challenge.
